The small town of Mystery Falls is just like any other. You have the cool kids and the outcasts. When one of the outcast boys, Jeremy, falls for one of the cool girls, Tori, it leads to a catastrophic event during a Halloween party, ending in the boy’s death.

Twenty years later, the next generation has been brought up on rumors and legends about how Jeremy is evil and climbs out of his grave to murder and wreak havoc. After a group of teens try to raise his spirit, the murders begin. One after another, seventeen-year-olds are being picked off by a hatchet-wielding maniac.

Is Jeremy back from the grave to seek his revenge or is another member of the community merely using that as a smokescreen?

I love this book! It was like watching the movie “Scream” all over again for the first time. The characters are intriguing, the plot is fun, and the hairpin turns will have you on the edge of your seat.

In the beginning, all I could think about was how dreadful it was that Jeremy was killed. Then we go on to find out that the girl Jeremy was in love with marries the bad guy and has a daughter with him. It’s like a soap opera gone terribly wrong. Even in death poor Jeremy can’t catch a break!

My anger was short-lived however, as I became more entranced with the story of Eve, Tori’s daughter. Most of the story is about her and the way that she handles the murders. Eve is smart, witty, and loving. Sadly she’s also one of the people on the murderer’s list. I found myself yelling out ’Not Eve! Not Eve!’ several times.

This book is well-written and full of life. I don’t understand why it hasn’t received more publicity. Seriously, this is one of those rare books that make you want to call everyone you know to tell them about it.

Armchair Interviews says: Highly recommended–and this reviewer RAVES about it.
