Rainy has fallen off the wagon--and the face of the earth!

Rainy Pierce self destructs while trying to handle the emotional burdens of her past, the violence of her career, the reemergence of her alcoholism and the undeserving love of her husband, retired FBI profiler Quincy Pierce.

Police find her car abandoned on the side of the road, door open, Rainy and her gun gone. Recently separated, Quincy worries Rainy has harmed herself--until the ransom note arrives. Quincy's daughter, Kimberly and her boyfriend, Mac (both in the FBI) join the frantic, wild-goose chase the kidnapper sends them on.

The local sheriff and police force welcome the aide of the federal agents to decipher the clues to find the kidnapper and discover his motivation. In the course of the search, a lot of other truths are revealed, some so unbearable those involved can hardly deal with them.

This novel takes off at break-neck speed, and careens to a satisfying, screeching conclusion just in time to qualify it as a really good suspense read.

Armchair Interviews says: Hunker down in a soft chair and enjoy.
